Hazel M. Sixt, 94, passed away on March 16, 2013. She was born in Portsmouth, Ohio, the daughter of the late Frank and Lillian Helt. In 1944 she married Robert Sixt in Dayton, Ohio, where she was a telephone operator at the Army Air Corps Patterson Field. She moved with her family from Cleveland, Ohio to Sheffield in 1961. She recently resided at the Ruth M. Smith Center, Sheffield. She was a member of the Sheffield United Methodist Church, an avid traveler with the “Tionesta Travelers”, and a member of the “Apple Siders” square dance group.

She is survived by 4 sons and 1 daughter, Tom and wife, Marcia, Venice, FL; Rob and wife, Jennifer, Chesterland, OH; John and wife, Becky, Sheffield; Jim and wife, Mimsi, Sheffield; and Barbara Maines and companion Jim Lentz, Sheffield. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, a brother, Henry, a sister, Ada, a nephew, Bobbie Boyd, one grandson, Herbie Hooks, a great granddaughter, Marissa Rowan, and a great grandson, Tyler Rowan.

Friends may call at the Sheffield United Methodist Church on Saturday March 23rd from 11:30 to12:45 PM after which a service will be held at 1:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Ruth M. Smith Center, Sheffield, PA. Burial will follow at the family’s convenience in Cleveland, Ohio.
