As one of the 5,000 veterans living in Warren County, I want to bring to the attention of all USMC veterans and their families a recent law passed that pertains to veterans and family members who served on active duty or resided at Camp LeJeune for 30 days or more between Jan.1, 1957 and Dec. 31, 1987.
The law pertains to eligibility for medical care through the Veteran’s Administration for 15 health conditions, including several types of cancer, leukemia, miscarriage, infertility and neurobehavioral effects. If you served at Camp LeJeune during the above dates and are already enrolled in VA health care, contact your local VA health care facility at 1-866-682-3250 to recieve care under the new law. If you are not already enrolled in the VA health care system, call 1-877-222-8387.
With so many veterans and their families residing in Warren County, perhaps the Veteran’s Affairs Office needs to have a regular column to address issues pertinent to so many people. I would be pleased to assist them.
