‘Green thumbs’ are needed at Allegheny Community Greenhouse
With spring just around the corner, planting will begin at the Allegheny Community Greenhouse located on the State Hospital grounds in North Warren. The greenhouse, coordinated by RSVP, is intended to be a gardening therapy and education center. With the recent reduction of staff, they will need many more volunteers to keep the greenhouse running.
Volunteers will be working on transplanting, watering, selling plants, working with children and adults who are there to learn about greenhouse operations, working outside in the raised beds and many other projects that come with running a greenhouse. Coordinators are looking for one or two volunteers who would coordinate the greenhouse as well. If you interested in volunteering, contact Sue Himes at the RSVP Office at the Allegheny Community Center at 723-3237.
