Hunger Games

The Sugar Grove Library and the Sugar Grove Community is working to plan a unique event never done before in Warren County.

This will be the first Sugar Grove Library Hunger Games with a twist. It will be a community street fair that will involve good clean fun competitions and will provide nonperishable food items to fill the local food banks.

This event will not only raise funds for the local library, it will assist in replenishing the area food banks. Local businesses are encouraged now to get in on the fun. Contact the Sugar Grove Library at (814) 489-7872 or event chairperson, Mary Passinger at (814) 489-3744 to find out how you or your business can become a sponsor of the event. You can also contact them for vendor information and sign up or if you would like to volunteer to be on the set up crew, take down crew or score keeper. This event is in need of more business sponsorship, so please consider how you can help.

Watch for more information on the numerous fun activities at the First Annual Sugar Grove Hunger games. There will be rock climbing, bungee running, archery, obstacle courses, races geo cashing, laser tag, hoop shoots, baseball throws, and more and it will all be happening in the streets of Sugar Grove. Ice Cream Social

The Sugar Grove Elementary School CPT will hold its annual Choice Auction and Ice Cream Social on Thursday, April 25. The proceeds from this event each year go to benefit the SGES students. This annual event is a lot of fun and well attended in our community. The Choice Auction has donated items sold through a ticket raffle. Anyone can buy chances on items. In order for this event to be successful, they would greatly appreciate any donation you might be able to make. Are you a great cook, love to make crafts or good at woodworking? Then they need you to donate your special items. The more donations we receive the more ticket that will be sold to benefit our school. Please contact the school office at 489-7851 to sign up to donate or for more information.

SGES and the

St. Jude’s Hospital

The Sugar Grove Elementary School students have once again participated in the math-a-thon to benefit the St. Jude’s Research Hospital . Each year the students of the school are encouraged to gain sponsors and participate in the event . We want to acknowledge some outstanding participants but also we want to thank all the students for taking part. Since the SGES started helping the hospital in 1992, they have raised over $36,000 to benefit the hospital and the care it gives to children.

This year the SGES class with the most participants was Mrs. Harrington’s 2nd grade class. The classes that collected the most sponsors was Mrs. Trubic’s third grade class in first place, Mrs. Harrington’s 2nd grade class in second place, and Mrs. Head’s 5th grade class in third place. A total of $1,880.01 was raised this year. Congratulations to the students with the highest amount of money raised, they were: First place Austin Flasher, 2nd place Katherine Elmquist, and third place Ashley Hall.
