Donald Barry Wood, Warren High School Class of ’49, passed away March 9, 2013 at his home in Radnor, PA. He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Alice (nee Hennessy), and his constant companion, Chief, a Golden Retriever. He was the son of the late Genevieve and Avery Wood and the brother of the late Edward Wood.
Don was a proud alumna of Pennsylvania State University (Class of ’53) where he was a member of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity. He served as a lieutenant in the Air Force before beginning his long career in the steel industry which he enjoyed thoroughly.
More than anything, Don cherished his family. He is survived by his daughters, Kelly (Hartley Place) and Kimberly (James Holleran); brother, John (Fran) Wood; grandchildren, Jim Holleran, Charlie Place, Carolyn Holleran (Jerry Kowal), Allie Place, Chelsea Holleran, Michael Holleran, and Kevin Holleran; sisters and brothers inlaw, Jane (Robert) Wintz, Richard (Evelyn) Hennessy, Blaker (Barbara) Hennessy, and Ann (Richard) Adams; and many nieces and nephews.
There will be a private memorial service. Charitable donations in Don’s name may be made to the local SPCA.
