Visually impaired youth and Scouting

Chief Cornplanter Council, Boy Scouts of America, is interested in starting a Cub Scout Pack or Boy Scout Troop for any visually impaired boys in Warren County. If you know of a young man who is blind or otherwise visually impaired who could benefit from a Scouting experience, contact Kevin Bonner at the Chief Cornplanter Council Office, 723-6700. A minimum of five boys is required to start.

ACC trip planned

The Northwestern National Parks Brochure is now available at the Allegheny Community Center, 42 Clark Street, and can be found in the computer room. The trip has been shortened to June 5 to June 15, 2013. The train will be taken from Buffalo Depew Station to Whitefish, Montana. The bus will then proceed through Glacier National Park, Yellowstone National Park, Grand Teton National Park, Mount Rushmore National Park, and The Badlands National Park. AOC on the move

On Sunday, March 17, the Allegheny Outdoor Club will hike or ski the River Trail in Tidioute. Participants will meet at the sewer plant parking lot at 2 p.m. After the hike they will eat at the Hummingbird Restaurant in Tidioute. For more information, call Dave Hoffman at 484-3207

Garden board to meet

Warren Garden Club board of directors will meet on Thursday, March 14, at 10:15 a.m. in the Jefferson Room of the Warren Public Library.

Win at bridge

Winners in Social Bridge Club play at the Woman’s Club of Warren were Beth Howe, first, and Beverly Nix, second.

Red Hats to meet

The Purple Majesties, Red Hat Society, will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day at noon Wednesday, March 13, at the Conewango Club, Market St., Warren. Participants are encouraged to wear red hats and green with their purple.

Lenten service set

A community Lenten service will be held at noon Thursday, March 14, at First United Methodist Church, 200 Market St., Warren. This week, the speaker will be the Rev. Rick Rohlin, and liturgist will be the Rev. Jon Swart. A soup and pie luncheon will follow the service in Founders Hall.

Warren High School Class of 1957 will have lunch at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 16, at the Eagles Club, Pennsylvania Ave. E., Warren.

Women to lunch

Women of Warren High School Class of 1948 will have lunch at noon Thursday, March 14, at McCulla’s, Pennsylvania Ave. E., Warren.

Band boosters to meet

Warren Area High School Dragons Band Boosters will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, in the band room at WAHS. Band members and parents are encouraged to attend.
