Big 30

Eisenhower High School senior John Pascuzzi is Warren County’s latest addition to the Pennsylvania squad for the 40th Annual Don Raabe Big 30 Charities Classic football game scheduled for Saturday, August 3, at Bradford’s Parkway Field.

Pascuzzi is a 5’10, 195-pound tailback and safety who was named a Region 2 first-team all-star at running back and defensive back as well as earning an honorable mention nod at running back for the Pennsylvania Football News all-state team during his senior season. Pascuzzi became Eisenhower’s all-time leading rusher in 2012 and narrowly missed the school’s single season rushing mark with 210 carries for 1,582 yards and 17 touchdowns, helping the Knights to a Region 2 championship.

College news

Sheffield Area High School graduate and Penn State Behrend freshmen men’s indoor track & field team member Kalil Slaughter had a big day for the Lions at the 2013 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Indoor Championships Saturday in New York, N.Y.

Slaughter posted a fifth-place finish in the men’s 200-meter dash, finishing in a school-record time of 22.40 seconds. Slaughter’s time also earned him All-ECAC recognition.

In the women’s competition, Warren Area High School graduate and Penn State Behrend women’s indoor track & field team member Katie Spade and teammates turned in an All-ECAC performance in the 4X800 distance relay, finishing sixth in a time of 9:38.71.
