Lewis seeks new term on city council
John D. Lewis has announced his intention to seek re-election to Warren City Council for a fourth term.
In a Feb. 27 statement, Lewis said, if elected, his goals include restoring community focus in city efforts, bringing unity and openness to city council activities, promoting fiscal responsibility and continuing essential services.
“I have served three terms on city council and, during that time, have served on the Blighted Housing Committee, Manager Selection Committee, Property Review Committee and the Police Pension Committee,”
Lewis served two terms totaling eight years on the Wesley Woods Board of Directors; serves on the Western Pennsylvania United Methodist Conference Camping and Retreat Board of Directors from 1998 to 2007; served as a counselor at Wesley Woods Astronomy/Rocketry/Computer Camp from 1988 to 2012, and as dean of the camp in 1991; served as a counselor at Wesley Woods Elementary Camp in 1993; served as a 100 Mile Trail Ride Camp Guide in 1994, 1995, 2001 and 2002, and as dean of the ride in 1996; was the Tidioute Community Charter School 2012 teaching volunteer of the year; received the Wesley Woods Volunteer of the Year Award in 1996 and is a member and disciple instructor of First United Methodist Church of Warren.
Lewis said. “I have owned a photographic and computer business in Warren since 1980 and currently teach science and technology full time at the Warren County Christian School.
“I feel Warren is place to live and a great place to raise a family. It is a place of unique features, many activities and wonderful natural resources; a large city cultural atmosphere in a safe, small town setting.”
Lewis served in the United States Army from 1968 to 1971 achieving the rank of sergeant. He received numerous awards and citations during his service.
Lewis holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from the University of Pittsburgh and an Associate in Science Degree in Biology from County College of Morris, Dover, NJ, as well as numerous professional certifications.
Lewis has nine years experience teaching, 27 years experience in the computer industry, 14 years experience in metal removal industries, seven years experience in the aerospace bearing industry and 39 years of experience in photography and related industries.
