Holden Evening

Prayer service planned

Holden Evening Prayer will be held this Tuesday, Feb. 26, at 7 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Kirk Johnston, associate pastor at First Presbyterian Church, preaching. Holden Evening Prayer is a vespers service written by Marty Haugen. The Tuesday services are being held throughout the Lenten season and are sponsored by First Presbyterian Church, St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Trinity Memorial Episcopal Church and the Warren City Lutheran churches. A fellowship hour follows the service. The public is invited.

Lenten service

in Sheffield Wednesday

Mid-week Lenten services are being held by congregations of the Sheffield Ministerium on Wednesdays during the Lenten services. This week’s service will be held at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church, Sheffield, with the Rev. Marty Reynolds, pastor of the Clarendon-Tiona United Methodist churches, preaching. A time of fellowship follows the services. The public is invited.

AOC on the move

On Sunday, March 3, the Allegheny Outdoor Club will ski or hike the Morrison Hiking Trail on the Allegheny National Forest. Participants will meet at Howe’s True Value on Rt. 6 at 1:30 p.m. or at the trailhead on Rt. 59 at 2 p.m. For more information, call Earl Ross at 726-3920.

Flute circle planned

A Native American Flute Circle will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, in the Thorne’s BiLo Community Room. Those with an interest in Native American flutes or Native American flute music are welcome.

Warren Area High School Class of 1962 will meet for breakfast at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, at Perkins.

Winners in Social Bridge Club play at the Woman’s Club of Warren Thursday were Carol Lake, first, and Joanne Massa, second.

Quilt show set

Several spaces remain on the Lancaster Quilt Show (AQS) scheduled for March 13-15. Sponsored by the Allegheny Community Center, the small bus will leave CRI Parking Lot at 7 a.m., on to Lancaster to visit the show and vendors at the host hotel, and on to shop at various quilt shops in the area. Drug disposal

Allegheny Community Center, 42 Clark St., will have Sgt. Brandon Deppen, Warren Police Department, speaking at 12:45 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27. He will explain what to do with old pharmaceuticals and some tips on where and when you can do this locally. There will be time for questions and answers. This is open to the public.
