3 Dragons to dive at D-10 championships

Three Warren Area High School divers will compete Friday in the District 10 Class AAA Diving Championships at Penn State Behrend in Erie.

For the girls, Warren’s Allie Sedon and Christine Kuzminski have qualified while the lone Dragons competitor on the boys side will be Drew Huey.

Of the three, only Sedon is a returning District 10 qualifier.

At the 2012 Class AAA Diving Championships, competing as a sophomore, the current junior, Sedon, finished fifth in the girls competition. This year, Sedon returns for another shot at the title and this time teammate Kuzminski, a freshman will compete.

Like Kuzminski, the sophomore Huey is also making his first trip to the district competition.

To qualify for districts, a diver needed to get 130 total points in dual meet over six dives.

The qualifiers who dive perform 11 dives total. They must take two dives from each of the following categories: forward, backdive, inward, reverse, and twist dive.

The D-10 champion automatically advances to the PIAA Class AAA championships.
