Theft. Warren-based state police investigated a claim by the Russell Volunteer Fire Department that resulted in the arrest of Shelby Tyler, 21, of Russell. According to police, Tyler allegedly removed a fire department gas card from a fire department vehicle without permission. Tyler is accused of using the gas card on several occasions to purchase approximately $1968.11 worth of gasoline. Tyler was arrested on Feb. 20 and arraigned in front of District Magistrate Carlson on one count of theft and 36 counts of Access Device Fraud. Tyler was released on $50,000 unsecured bond.

Crash. Warren-based state police responded to a one-vehicle crash on Mathews Run Road on Feb. 19 at 6:30 p.m. Police report the crash occurred as Charles Dickson, 52, of Warren was traveling north on Mathews Run Road when he attempted to negotiate a left bend in the roadway, lost control and spun clockwise, sliding off the east berm of the roadway. The vehicle came to rest along the east berm facing in a southeasterly direction. Dickson and his passenger were wearing seatbelts and his passenger recieved a minor injury. Dickson was charged with driving too fast for conditions.
