Freshmen hoops

The Warren freshmen boys basketball team recently went 1-1 in a pair of contests with Central Tech and Cathedral Prep.

In a 46-33 loss to Cathedral Prep, Ryan Skedra led the Dragons with nine points with Devin Nowacki and Logan Galloway adding six points each. Jason Waterfield finished with five points, Sheldon McMeans added four points, Mark Reiff had two points and Andrew Gignac had one point in defeat.

In a 47-42 victory over Central Tech, Nowacki paced the winners with 15 points. Galloway chipped in eight points, Reiff and Waterfield six points apiece, Skerda four points, McMeans and Will Bablak three points each and Anthony Citro two points. Warren finishes the season with a record of 14-4.

Mat rankings

Warren sophomore D.J. Fehlman is the only Warren wrestler ranked among the top four in Rob Coleman’s latest PIAA Class AAA Northwest Regional wrestling rankings. The two-time District 10 champ is ranked first at 126 pounds. Fehlman and teammates Chris McNeal (182 pounds) and Alex Streich (220) will compete at the Class AAA Northwest Regional Tournament Match 1-2 in Altoona.

Gymnastics

Clarendon’s Morgan Hoffman represented the Lakewood Starz gymnastics team in the Bradford/Olean Invitational on Saturday. Here are Hoffman’s results:
