Lenten service set

A community Lenten service will be held at noon Thursday, Feb. 21, at First United Methodist Church, 200 Market St., Warren. This week, the speaker will be the Rev. Bill Schneider, retired United Methodist pastor, and liturgist will be Dr. Jeff Sterling of First United Methodist Church, Warren. A soup and pie luncheon will follow the service Founders Hall.

Audition for ‘Harvey’

Auditions for “Harvey” will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, and at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, in the Library Room of the Struthers Library Theatre. There are parts available for 12 adults. If you would like to help in any area of production of Harvey, show up at one of the auditions or call Lou Cable at 723-2057. “Harvey” was written by Mary Chase 70 years ago and remains a classic comedy. It is a timeless story of loneliness, friendship, family, life and love. Ellwood P. Dowd’s best friend is Harvey. Harvey is a Pookah. What is a Pookah? You’ll have to come see for yourself. This is a classic comedy which you have to see to appreciate. Performance dates for Harvey will be May 16-19.

AOC on the move

On Friday, Feb. 22, the Allegheny Outdoor Club (AOC) will cross-country ski or hike on the West Overland Trail in Chautauqua County, N.Y. Participants will meet at the trailhead, on Rt. 474 just west of Panama, with their lunch at 10 a.m. For more information, call Pat Spicer at 757-8331, 9 to 11 p.m.

On Sunday, Feb. 24, the AOC will hike or ski and hold its annual Winter Picnic at Chapman State Park. Participants will bring a dish to pass and meet at Pavilion # 2 at 1p.m. Dennis Anderson will host the event and prepare his popular “Garbage-Can Turkey.” or those who don’t want to ski or hike, the group will eat dinner at 4:30 p.m. For more information, call Anderson at (716) 969-9772.
