Varsity slate

Here is the varsity slate of action for county winter sports teams for Saturday, Feb. 17, through Thursday, Feb. 21:


Wrestling: Warren at District 10 Class AAA Championships, at Central Tech (Erie), 9:30 a.m.

Eisenhower, Youngsville at D-10 Section 1-AA Wrestling Championships, Union City High School, 10:30 a.m.


Girls Basketball: Bradford at Warren, 6 p.m.

Swimming: Warren at Corry, 6 p.m.

Boys Basketball: Eisenhower at Conneaut, 6 p.m.


Boys Basketball: Bradford at Warren, 6 p.m.


Swimming: Cathedral Prep/Villa Maria at Warren, 6 p.m.

Refs needed

The Kinzua Soccer Club is looking for referees for its U10 through U19 travel program. Games are played on Sundays from April to mid-June as well as September and October. Referees are paid for their participation.

A course will be offered from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, for those interested in participating. There is a $75 registration fee. Participants must be at least 12 years old, but the league is in need of adult referees. For more details, contact Cindy Price at 723-3953 prior to Saturday, March 2.

College news

Warren Area High School graduate and California University of Pennsylvania women’s swim team member Kelsey Nuhfer helped the Lady Vulcans to a 10th-place standing after the first day of the team event at the 2013 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships.

Nuhfer was a member of the 200 medley relay team that finished ninth overall with a swim of 1:48.85.

Youth soccer

Warren’s U-14 co-ed soccer team beat Bemus Point, 8-3, on Friday in the Lakewood Family YMCA Indoor Soccer League. Lionel Eason, Connor Guiffre and Tanner Kays scored two goals each for Warren, and Sawyer Mohney and Griffin Suppa one each.

Nathan Eadie and Suppa had two assists each, and Ian Goldthwaite, Tommy Harrington and Guiffre one each. Seth Harrington was goalkeeper for Warren (5-0).
