Explorers plan open house
The Warren Police Department Explorer Post will host an open house for prospective members at 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, at the Warren Municipal Building.
Teenagers interested in a career in law enforcement are invited to participate.
“The department began the career-awareness program to offer young people the opportunity to learn the day-to-day operation of a police department,” Sgt. Brandon Deppen, post advisor, said. “The Exploring program is open to young men and women who are Warren County students and currently in eighth to 11th grade.”
“Each year the members participate in training sessions and then use this knowledge during competitions and at the National Conference,” Deppen said. “The post holds a training academy and camp during the summer along with monthly meetings to prepare the members.”
Post members pile up hundreds of hours of community service each year performing tasks including traffic, security, and safety details, Deppen said.
