Alzheimer’s support offered Monday

The Alzheimer’s Caregivers Support Group will meet at noon Monday, Feb. 18, in the Wesley Parlor of Grace United Methodist Church, 501 Pennsylvania Ave. E., Warren. Participants should enter the building from the east side of the church via the elevator entrance at the rear of the parking lot. Wesley Parlor is on the first floor. Bring a bag lunch and beverage, if desired. All caregivers (past and present), family members of those affected by dementia, and anyone interested in the group are invited to attend these meetings which are scheduled for the third Monday of each month. Puppet show Sunday

Starbrick Community Church, 168 Weiler Rd., will have a “Puppet Bible Drama” during the 10 a.m. service on Sunday, Feb. 17. The drama will be performed by the children and adults of the congregation. Act I is John the Baptist; Act II the Baptism of Jesus; and Act III the Temptation of Jesus. Scripture reading will be by assistant minister Trevor Smith. The public is invited to attend.

Beginning bridge classes at the Warren Public Library

The Warren Public Library will again offer beginning bridge classes with instructor Lana Creal. These classes are intended for individuals who have no experience with the game of bridge. People who have played the game before but feel they need another opportunity to learn the game are also welcome. This series of eight classes will begin Wednesday, March 13, and continue for the next seven Wednesdays. Pre-registration for this series of classes is mandatory. Call the library at 723-4650 to register. The series of classes will be canceled if fewer than eight people pre-register. These free classes will be held in the Jefferson Room and Beckley Lab. Bottled water will be provided.

NCT trail meeting

The Allegheny National Forest Chapter of the North Country National Scenic Trail will hold its monthly meeting at the Lion’s Den in Sheffield at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18. The group will discuss Amsler Springs shelter, south of Kelletville, which needs repaired. This will only take one day and a few good workers. And, the group will discuss the construction of a brand new shelter near Ludlow. Also, exact location of National Trails Day on June 1 and the Allegheny 100 Challenge June 7-9. The NCT national conference will be coming to Slippery Rock University in August and there is much work to be done. For more information, call Keith Klos at 484-7420.

Bingo Wednesday

Bingo usually scheduled for Monday at the Allegheny Community Center, 42 Clark St., Warren, will be play Wednesday next week. The center will be closed for Presidents’ Day Monday.

Auction Saturday

An auction to benefit Chandlers Valley Community Center will be held beginning at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at the center. Auctioneers will be “McKuhn-n-Hotchkiss.”

‘Feingold’ discussion

Renee Shutters, a representative from the Feingold organization, will be at Warren Area Elementary School to discuss the benefits of an artificial color and preservative free diet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 6. For information/reservations, call WAEC at 723-9061.
