GIRLS HOOPS: First-place Villa takes it to Warren

ERIE – Warren’s five-game winning streak ended on Tuesday when the Dragons ran into first-place Villa Maria.

“I guess it’s a little bit of a reality check,” said Warren coach Lisa Ruhlman, whose Dragons lost 53-26 in the Region 6 game. “We’ve been having a good season but every day you step on the floor… you need to (hustle and bring your ‘A’ game). Defensively, they’re tough, and we didn’t get back in transition.”

Villa (18-2 overall and 9-0 in region) clinched the Region 6 title with the win. Warren is 15-5 overall and 6-3 in the region with one more region contest at Harbor Creek on Thursday.

Jaimie Eaton battled for 11 of Warren’s 26 points, and Paige Wilson led Warren with eight rebounds. Warren finished with just six field goals and 25 turnovers.
