WRESTLING: Eagles end dual meet season with loss to visiting Saegertown
Youngsville fell to a tough Saegertown team in its final dual wrestling match of the season, 49-24, on Monday night at Youngsville High School.
The Eagles (4-12 overall , 2-7 in Region 3) jumped out to a 12-0 lead thanks to two forfeit wins by Chester Ciukaj (126) and Aaron Hoover (138), but the Panthers (14-4, 8-1) took control for the remainder of the match. Saegertown earned five pins, two decisions and two forfeits.
Zach Ishman (160) and Jaykup Durlin (220) both earned pins for the Eagles.
“We put our good (wrestlers) against theirs and I think we did well,” said Youngsville coach Scott Ishman. “They brought some of their studs looking for easy points, but you can’t take it away from them. That’s why they’re ranked (third in District 10 Class AA). I thought the kids wrestled hard, and now we’re looking towards playoffs.”
With the regular-season schedule completed, the Eagles will now travel to Union City High School on Friday to compete in the Section 1-AA Tournament.
