Antiques club hears ‘Craftsman’ program
The January meeting of the Antiques Study Club was held Jan. 28 at the Woman’s Club of Warren. President Pat Slattery led a short meeting, which she began with a cheerful poem entitled “June in January.”
Cathy Grant presented an informative program on The Craftsman Era, which also encompassed The Arts and Crafts Era, and explained the many differences and variations in these styles. She also told those attending how this was really a philosophy, encompassing every aspect of life, not just in design, and that the scope of it made it an engrossing subject which could easily be broken into many sub-categories for further study. Jill Dart brought several lovely examples of fabrics from those years, which complemented Grant’s discussion.
Hostesses, including chairwoman Dart, were Tana Fegely, Priscilla Breese, Julia Decker, Donna Sadler and Judy Champlin. They treated the group to ice cream sundaes and Lorna Doone cookies, which were introduced during these years, thus rounding out a fascinating era, which is very well-represented in many of the beautiful homes of Warren.
Next month’s meeting will be held at the Woman’s Club on Feb. 25, and will include a program titled “Old Quilts” by Mandy Adams.
