Ruth Cataldo, 75, of Sugar Grove, PA, died Thursday afternoon, February 7, 2013 at the John and Orpha Blair Hospice Home after an extended illness. She was born February 2, 1938 in Kinzua, PA to the late William L. and Edith V. Bova Strong. She has resided in the Warren and Sugar Grove areas most of her life.
Ruth was a graduate of Warren Area High School, Class of 1956, and was employed with the Pennsylvania Employment Office for 21 years. She had also owned and operated the former Echo Valley Store in Sugar Grove, PA. She was a member of St. Joseph R.C. Church. Ruth was a huge family genealogist, collector of dolls and dollhouses, antiques, and an avid crafter.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph Cataldo, Jr., whom she married June 9, 1956 at Holy Redeemer R. C. Church, Warren, PA.
3 Sons Mark Allan Cataldo and wife, Sandra, Michael Cataldo and wife, Dawn, and William Cataldo, all of Sugar Grove, PA.
Grandson Robbie Joe Cataldo whom she helped raise.
1 Brother Ralph G. Strong and his wife, Nancy of Mt. Morris, NY, 4 Grandchildren, 2 Step Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren, 3 Step GreatGrandchildren, several nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 1 Son Joseph J. Cataldo, 2 Brothers William L. Strong, J., Richard L. Strong, 2 Nephews Charles J. Cataldo, Conrad Offi, 1 Niece Theresa Marie Carlson.
Friends may call at the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., 304 East Street, Warren, PA, on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M., where a vigil service will be conducted at 7:45 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph R.C. Church with Fr. Richard J. Toohey, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph R.C. Cemetery.
