Guns

Dear editor:

This was written by Robert H. Boatman in 2002 and published in his book “Living With Glocks”, taken from Chapter 20; The Constitutional Right and Social Obligation to Carry a Gun:

“The most dangerous places in this world are those called “gun free safety zones” by their ignorant politician creators and known by criminals and psychopaths as “safe to kill zones”. Even adolescent school kids can figure out that an advertised killing field where no one can shoot back is the safest location in the world to carry out a mass shooting”.

Prophetic, accurate and on point, 11 years before the sad events of Newtown, CT.

President Obama is quoted as saying “he can get 50 percent of public support for many of his upcoming initiatives”. That means that 50 percent of the public will NOT support his socialist initiatives.

Obama is also quoted as saying “he has profound respect for the traditions of hunting”. Unfortunately he does not share that respect for the Constitution or the Second Amendment.

Obama is further quoted as “the realities of guns in urban areas are very different from the realities of guns in rural areas”. Chicago is one of the country’s most gun regulated areas, yet Chicago had 506 murders in 2012 and is on pace hit 730 in 2013. I would suggest that Chicago has more criminals and psychopaths than other areas or less stringent enforcement of convictions and consequences for offenders. Perhaps if the citizens of Chicago were allowed and encouraged to carry guns the problem would not be as large.

Obama is also quoted as “one of the biggest factors with gun control debate will be how it is shaped by the media”. The media, with its’ liberal bias and love affair with the President, cannot be allowed to trump the Constitution; those wishing to stop further erosion of our rights must speak LOUDER, let your voices be heard. It is the individual intent on creating mayhem that should be held accountable and eliminated not the tool he chooses.

Today’s FOX news headlines: “Bipartisan Immigration Deal Reached…including a path to citizenship for 11 million illegal immigrants”. I guess it is ok for 11 million people to break the laws of this Country and get rewarded .

It is long past time for those paying the bills, the hard working, long suffering middle class guy and gal with a job who doesn’t say much, to be heard. You must let your legislators know where you stand on issues. It is their job to represent you and your collective voice. Tell the politicians that you are watching and your votes will be counted.

Respectfully,

Lee J. Borger Jr.
