College news

Warren Area High School graduate and Pitt-Bradford men’s basketball team member Tyler Fantaskey scored seven points for the Panthers during a 65-53 victory over D’Youville on Wednesday. Fantaskey and the Panthers (10-9) return to the court Saturday, hosting La Roche.

Warren Area High School graduate and California University of Pennsylvania women’s swim team member Kelsey Nuhfer has helped the Lady Vulcans to a No. 24 ranking in the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Top 25 poll.

Nuhfer is a member of the women’s 200 freestyle relay team that currently ranks second in the league and 14th in the country with a season-best time of 1:36.28. Nuhfer and the Vulcans return to the pool Saturday, facing Carnegie Mellon, Clarion, Grove City and host Pittsburgh at Trees Pool.

Rescheduled

The Mercyhurst Prep at Warren girls basketball game originally scheduled for Thursday was postponed. The game will be made up Saturday at Warren Area High School. The junior varsity game is scheduled for 2 p.m. with varsity to follow.

The District 10 Class AAA Team Wrestling Duals, originally scheduled for Thursday at Central Tech High School, were postponed. The event will be now be held Saturday with a 12 p.m. start time planned. The Dragons will square off with General McLane in one semifinal with Titusville and McDowell wrestling in the other semifinal. The winners of the semifinal bouts will meet at 2 p.m. with the winner of that match advancing to the PIAA Class AAA Team Wrestling Championships in Hershey.

The Cathedral Prep and Villa Maria at Warren boys and girls swim meet originally scheduled for Thursday was postponed. The meet will tentatively be made up at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, February 21, pending availability of the Warren County YMCA swimming pool.

The Cambridge Springs at Youngsville girls basketball game originally scheduled for Thursday was postponed. The game will be made up on Thursday, February 14, at Youngsville High School. The varsity girls game will be played at 6 p.m. with the already scheduled Cambridge Springs at Youngsville varsity boys basketball game starting at 7:30 p.m. No junior varsity games will be played.

The Sheffield at Brockway junior high boys basketball game originally scheduled for Thursday was postponed. The game will be made up at 4 p.m., Monday, at Brockway.

The Youngsville at Rocky Grove boys basketball game originally scheduled for Thursday was postponed. No make-up date has been announced.

The Cambridge Springs at Eisenhower wrestling match originally scheduled for Thursday was postponed. No make-up date has been announced.
