Benefit Bake Sale
AMVETS Post50 Ladies Auxiliary is hosting a bake sale on Saturday, Jan. 26. All proceeds from the sales will benefit the Sugar Grove Free Library. The bake sale will begin at 11 a.m. and continue until all supplies are sold. Any donations of food items to sell or donations to the library would be appreciated.
Donations can be dropped off at the Post on Friday or Saturday.
District Band Festival
The Pennsylvania Music Educators Association will be holding its District Band Festival on Saturday, Jan. 26 at Elk County Catholic High School in St. Marys.
Congratulations to some of our talented Eisenhower band students who were selected to take part. They are Senior Greg Mizak, trumpet; Junior Macy Retterer, clarinet; Junior Jessalyn Peterson, piccolo; and Senior Patty Bogniak, clarinet.
Tickets for the event are available by contacting the Elk County Catholic High School.
The Pennsylvania Music Educators Association will be holding its District Jazz Band Festival on Saturday, Feb. 16 at Fort LeBoeuf High School in Waterford. Congratulations to Jimmy Palmer, a junior at Eisenhower High School who was selected to be a part of the event.
The Warren County School District will not be having classes for any employees or students on Monday, Feb. 4 and there is also an Energy day scheduled no school for Monday, Feb. 18.
Wednesday, Feb. 20 will be the day to register for 2013-14 kindergarten at Sugar Grove Elementary School. Registration times are 8:30 to 10:45 a.m. or 1 to 2:30 p.m.
Bring to the school office the following items when you come to register: student’s birth certificate, immunization records, proof of residency by means of a utility bill, credit card bill, deed, mortgage, lease agreement, or driver’s license. Each student being registered will have the opportunity to meet the kindergarten teachers and also complete a vision screening.
Registration packets can be obtained at the school office or at the Warren County School District central office. Schools ask that your registration packet be completed prior to arrival on registration day. Everyone should allow at least one hour for the registration process. If you have any questions, contact the school office at 489-7851.
For those in the area attending school in Russell, the Russell Elementary School kindergarten registration will be held on Feb. 12 from 9 to11 a.m. and 1 to 2:30 p.m.
Eisenhower Knight-Time Players will present their third Annual Dinner Theater on Feb. 15 and 16 in the Eisenhower gymnasium. The show, “Family Album,” by Rod Frankel, is a series of monologues, duets, and skits about modern family life, including children fighting over a remote, and a child trying to make sense of a divorce. There will also be stand-up comedy and a selection of music.
The choices for the dinner on Friday night, Feb. 15, are Bacon Wrapped Filet or Seafood (Scallops and Shrimp) Alfredo. The dinner choices for Saturday night, Feb.16, will be Bacon Wrapped Filet or Chicken Cordon Bleu. All dinners include tossed salad, dinner rolls, entree, potatoes, vegetable, dessert and beverages.
Ticket are $15 and include both the dinner and all the entertainment. Thank you to all those who came out on Wednesday to support the American Red Cross Blood Drive at the Sugar Grove Fire Hall. A free Amish dinner and dessert was served to all those who donated blood.
