GIRLS HOOPS: Sheffield falls to 6-10 in loss to Lady Rams

The Sheffield Lady Wolverines dropped their third straight game Wednesday night, falling to 6-10 on the year with a 61-41 loss to Johnsonburg at Sheffield Area High School.

The two teams played neck-and-neck early on until Johnsonburg picked up the pace, outscoring the Lady Wolverines 24-12 in the second quarter.

“(Johnsonburg) is a powerhouse in the AML,” said Sheffield coach Jeff Labesky. “We got good looks, we just didn’t make enough shots to beat a team like this. We need to regroup for this tough stretch of games. We have Kane coming up, who is another good team, and then Elk County Catholic next week.”

Jen Isenberg led the way for Sheffield with 14 points, while teammate Abby Labesky added 11 in the loss.

Kathryn Polanski finished with 14 points for the Ramettes, who are 12-3 overall and 5-1 in the AML.

The Lady Wolverines will travel to Kane Friday, as they continue to look for their first Allegheny Mountain League win of the season against the Lady Wolves.
