The Revitalization of Youngsville organization announces a community-wide open meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 5, at 6:30 p.m. at Youngsville Borough Building, 40 Railroad St. for the purpose of determining the future of Youngsville’s A-‘Maize’-ing Corn Fest.
R.O.Y. has organized and conducted Corn Fest for each of the past seven years, with varying degrees of success. But with Phase One of R.O.Y.’s revitalization of downtown Youngsville scheduled to begin in earnest over the next several months, and likely to be in full swing during August, serious discussion needs to take place by residents of Youngsville about 2013 Corn Fest. No subject having to do with Corn Fest will be off-limits, including whether or not to have 2013 Corn Fest.
All residents of Youngsville Borough and Brokenstraw Township are invited to participate in this open meeting.
The annual Sweetheart Dinner and White Elephant Auction will be held on Sunday, Feb. 10 at 5 p.m. The auction is held to provide money for our kids to go shopping for Christmas gifts for other children. They do this each year and is very worthwhile.
Proceeds from the dinner help CLC provide future activities for the year as well as supplies for the kitchen and donations we give out each year.
Packets are available for the 2013-2014 kindergarten registration at Youngsville Elementary Middle School. Completed packets can be returned on Tuesday, Feb. 19 from 9 to 11 a.m. or 1 to 2:30 p.m.
Corn Hole Tournament
The YHS Softball Team will sponsor a Corn Hole Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 23, in the YHS gymnasium. Cost is $15 per team.
Registration begins at 11 a.m. and tournament begins at noon. You can also register prior to that day by contacting any YHS softball player or parent for an entry form. Any question, contact Ron Jameson at 730-1577.

Tickets will be available on Feb. 1 in Youngsville locations and the Sheffield Allegheny Cellars Winery. The first 300 to purchase a $10 wine-tasting ticket (for those over 21) before April 20 will receive a commemorative glass at the event.
