BOYS HOOPS: J’burg routs Sheffield

JOHNSONBURG – It was the only show in town on a cold and snowy Tuesday evening.

As it turns out, the Sheffield boys would’ve gladly stayed at home.

Powerhouse Johnsonburg scored 29 first quarter points, building a 20-point lead during an 82-43 victory over the Wolverines Tuesday at Johnsonburg Area High School.

Three Rams players – Cameron Grumley, Cole Peterson and Mitchell Holmberg – scored in double figures during the victory lead by Grumley’s 25 points. The Rams were halfway to 100 points by halftime, leading 50-23.

The pace slowed in the second half, but Johnsonburg was still able to add 12 points to its advantage.

Sheffield (6-10) finished with a pair of players in double digits led by Dylan McNeal’s 15 points. Brendan Winslow added 13 points and Chris Pedersen and Shequan Wright chipped in five points each.

No junior varsity information was available.

The Wolverines return to the court Friday, hosting Kane.
