Youth mat

Three local wrestlers, competing for North East’s Ragin’ Raisins wrestling team, competed in the Top 100 Titusville Tournament held Saturday. The event featured over 400 grapplers from Ohio and Pennsylvania.

Russell’s Logan Jaquay was a champion in the 9-10 year-old, 65-pound weight class while younger brother Gannon Jaquay was second in the 7-8 year-old, 65-pound division.

Youngsville’s Ian Proctor finished fourth in his 13-14 year-old class.

Mat rankings

A total of nine county wrestlers are included in Dan Albaugh’s latest District 10 and PIAA Northwest Region Class AA wrestling rankings and Rob Coleman’s District 10 and PIAA Northwest Region Class AAA wrestling rankings.

In Class AA, Youngsville junior Jaykup Durlin is the district’s highest ranked wrestler, being ranked third at 220 pounds. Durlin is also ranked third in the Northwest Region. Eisenhower senior Jeb Fedorchuk (120 pounds) is ranked fourth in the district and fifth in the Northwest Region while teammates Jake Johnson (195) and Steven Haner (113) are ranked fifth in the district.

In Class AAA, a total of five Warren wrestlers are included in Coleman’s rankings. Sophomores D.J. Fehlman and Alex Streich are ranked second in the district at 126 pounds and 220 pounds repsectively. Fehlman is ranked third in the Northwest.

182-pound senior Chris McNeal is ranked third in District 10, Garrett Smead is fourth at 152 pounds and Cody Gunn is also fourth at 160 pounds.
