Cartoon lies

Dear editor:

Your political cartoon on page A4 of your January 12 edition represents a bold face lie promoted by the anti-second amendment elements of our society.

It depicts the illegal use of a semi-automatic rifle for deer hunting. Such firearms have not been legal for hunting in Pennsylvania since shortly after they were developed. Furthermore, the cartoon projects the false image that the debate over gun control is related to the sporting use of firearms. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Herman Goring would be proud of your efforts of promoting this propaganda. Don’t you think editorial space would be better spent promoting the truth, and by the way, defining the real problem with which society is not dealing. Shame on those efforts to allow such lies to be published by the Observer.
