GIRLS HOOPS: Sheffield girls fall short at DCC

DuBOIS – Sheffield had the momentum of a huge junior varsity win, but fell just short of DuBois Central Catholic, 47-37, on Friday at DuBois.

“We had a nice seven-point lead after the first quarter; next thing you know we’re trailing by four at halftime,” said Sheffield coach Jeff Labesky, whose Lady Wolverines are 6-9 overall after two straight losses.

Sheffield trailed by six in the fourth before being forced to foul to keep it close.

“We were in this game from start to finish,” said Labesky, whose team was led by Jen Isenberg’s 21 points, including 7-of-10 from the line.

Labesky said the junior varsity team’s 25-23 win was the first in recent memory at DuBois. Abby Cromwell’s 45-foot 3-pointer to end an 11-2 third quarter was the big shot.
