Elizabeth D. Carlson, 109, of Chester, WV, went home to be with Jesus on Monday morning, January 14, 2013. She was born in Nebraska, PA on October 10, 1903, a son of the late Mary M. (Shellhouse) and George E. Anthony.

Elizabeth graduated from Youngsville High School in the Class of 1922. She went on to graduate from Clarion Normal School (Clarion State Teachers College) and had taught school at Whitestown School. She was a member of Oil City First Free Methodist Church, where she belonged to the Women’s Missionary Society of the church. She had served as a missionary in Haiti from 1969 1971. Elizabeth was a devout and faithful servant of Jesus Christ, who saw fit to grant her a long life; and, at the time of her passing had led her family into 6 generations.

She was the widow of Elmer Frank Carlson whom she married June 16, 1924 and who preceded her in death on May 27, 1943. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by 2 daughters, Joan Kelly and Ruth Robertson; 4 brothers, Charles, Leonard, Wenzel, and Clyde, and 4 sisters, Josephine, Georgia, Ethel, and Autumn.

Surviving are 2 sons, Paul F. (Barbara) Carlson of West Virginia and Frank E. (Dorothy) Carlson of Texas, 8 grandchildren, several greatgrandchildren, greatgreatgrandchildren, and greatgreatgreat grandchildren.

Friends will be received on Thursday from 11 1 pm at McKinney Funeral Homes in Youngsville, where a funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, January 17th, with Rev. Paul Knight officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Pittsfield, PA.
