Warren’s freshmen boys basketball team is 6-1 after a 38-31 win over host Central Tech on Saturday.
Devin Nowacki led Warren with 15 points, Evan Suppa added eight, Ryan Skerda four, Sheldon McMeans, Logan Galloway and Mark Reiff two points each, and Tony Citro one.
Also last week, Nowacki scored 16 points to lead Warren to a 51-36 win over Oil City. Suppa had 15 points, McMeans and Galloway 10 each, and Skerda and Dominic Funari two points each.
Warren’s freshmen team travels to Erie on Monday to play East.
Junior high hoops
Beaty Warren Middle School’s seventh-grade boys basketball lost to Sharon Middle School, 36-17, on Saturday in the championship game of the General McLane Tournament.
Rylan Fitzgerald had six points, Elliot Gross and Adam Irwin three each, Nathan Betts and Kohl Nosel two each, and Andrew Davidson one point for the 7-2 Dragons.
Beaty had beaten Meadville Middle School, 32-19, earlier Saturday to advance to the final. Davidson and Nosel led Beaty with 10 points each, Fitzgerald added seven, Gross and Colby Johnson two each, and Munksgard added one point.
Earlier in January, 10 players scored in a win over Youngsville. No score was reported. Fitzgerald scored 10 points, Johnson six, Irwin and Troy Shattuck four each, Chris White three, and Betts, Mitchell Bryant, Jimmy Lobdell, Ryan Munksgard and Adam Munksgard added two each.
In a 29-25 loss to Oil City, Fitzgerald scored seven points, Davidson six, Betts and Johnson four each, Irwin two, and Bryant and Gross one point each.
In a 40-11 win over Corry, Davidson led with eight points, Betts scored seven, Fitzgerald six, White five, Gross and Nosel four each, Irwin three, Johnson two, and Lobdell one.
Warren Area High School graduate Tyler Fantaskey scored three points (a 3-pointer) in Pitt-Bradford’s 78-63 loss on Saturday to Mount Aloysius in Bradford.
