Garden Club ends season

The Warren Garden Club ended its 2012 season with a luncheon at the Woman’s Club. The event began at noon with a social hour filled with conversation, wine, punch and appetizers. Time was also spent singing Christmas carols accompanied by president Rebecca Ryan on the piano.

Tables were decorated with battery powered lighted trees. The lighted snowflakes sparkled under wisps of angel hair snow on each tree branch. Roberta Ward and her committee truly represented their theme “White Christmas.” An added touch was the snowflake tree ornaments by each club member’s table setting.

After lunch, Ryan led a short business meeting. Dottie Higgins and Dorothy McCarthy were sworn in as the organization’s new corresponding secretary and treasurer. Each was presented with a red rose. Red roses were also given to members of the 2012 board of directors.

President Ryan thanked with roses club members who had presented a topic in the recent Triple Bloom all day floral event.

Connie Lucia was recognized with a club laurel and a bouquet of roses for her work as Triple Bloom chairman eight times. The idea of sponsoring an educational gardening, floral design event for the public was originally Lucia’s with the first being held in 1991. She served as club president in 1996 97 and is a life member of the Garden Club of Pennsylvania.
