Annie Irene McDonald, 85, of Water Street, Warren went home to be with the Lord early on Tuesday, January 9, 2013 at the John and Orpha Blair Hospice Residence.
Ann was born to Winfred Milton and Maud Ethel Jewell McDonald on August 1, 1927 in Union City, Pa. At age nine, Ann, along with her older sister Dorothy, was separated from three younger siblings after the death of their mother. Upon her 1945 graduation from Academy High School in Erie, Pa., Ann moved to Warren to work for her Aunt Sadie at the Soda Grill and Restaurant on Conewango Ave. Later, she was a loyal New Process employee from September 14, 1950 to September 14, 1956. To advance her career, she took a position at the Bell Telephone Company. She retired from Bell at the age of 55, on December 29, 1982, following 26 years of service. Ann was a member of the Bell Telephone Pioneers.
Ann was a long term member of Grace United Methodist Church. She enjoyed singing in the choir and participating in the Friendship Class for many years. She was an avid bowler into her eighties, often taking friends or family along, 16 lb. ball in tow!
Ann loved her family. She orchestrated many family picnics, parties, and reunions. She took thousands of family pictures and loved to share them. She faithfully and generously blessed friends and family with cards and gifts throughout the years. Above all, Ann loved to care for children, and was the personal babysitter for many in her family. She loved having visitors, showering them with homemade goodies and love.
On December 4, 2012, Ann moved to the Hospice House. She was grateful for the beautiful atmosphere and the wonderful care she received there.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Harold and Robert Wells, three nieces, and a nephew.
She is survived by her sister, Dorothy Robinault of Warren, and Dorothy’s children: Murray Robinault (Donna) of Garland, Darrell Robinault of Warren, Jennifer Morell (Gregory) of Warren, Marjorie Walker (Glenn) of Fairview, Cynthia Hood (Charles) of Warren, and Regan Robinault (Nadene) of North Canton, Ohio. She is also survived by her sister Janeth McDonald, of Erie; a cousin, JoAnn Jewell of Erie; as well as 14 more nieces and nephews. She was a greataunt to 41, and a greatgreataunt to 24. She will be sadly missed by all.
Friends will be received at the Grace United Methodist Church, in the sanctuary parlor on Friday evening, January 11, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. and for one hour prior to a funeral service to be held there at 12:00 noon, with Rev. Dr. Jeffrey Sterling, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Willow Dale Cemetery, Bradford, Pa.
