BOYS HOOPS: Eagles, Wolverines suffer lopsided losses

The Youngsville Eagles faced a tough region test Wednesday night, losing a 60-31 contest to Class AAA Conneaut at Youngsville High School. With the loss, the Class A Eagles drop to 2-7 overall and 0-3 in Region 3.

“I think the guys were obviously a little intimidated by the size of the school, but once we settled in and started playing things got better,” said Youngsville coach Keith Martin. “A lot of good stuff came out of this. I’m proud of these guys.”

Broc Horn paced the Eagles attack with 13 points, all of which came in the second half.

Coll Dininny added nine points for Youngsville in the loss.

Conneaut (7-5, 3-0) was led by 6-foot-4 center Noah Uplinger, who scored a game-high 16 points for the visitors.

The Eagles will return to action this Friday when they visit county rival Eisenhower at Eisenhower High School. Both teams are currently searching for their first region win of the season.

Conneaut topped Youngsville in the junior varsity game, 45-33. Jacob Linkerhof was the top scorer for the Eagles with 17 points.
