City looking for some volunteers
If you’re a resident of the City of Warren and interested in volunteering, the city needs your help.
The city is currently looking to fill two positions on the Parks and Recreation Commission, two positions on the Planning Commission and one position each on the Redevelopment Authority, Zoning Hearing Board and Blighted Property Review Committee.
“Numerous city residents volunteer their time to serve on the City’s various boards and commissions and members of Warren City Council and City Staff are very appreciative of the service that these individuals provide,” the city said in a press release. “Additionally, members of City Council believe that it is appropriate to notify city residents of expiring terms and vacancies so that interested individuals may also have an opportunity to serve their city.”
Any city resident interested in volunteering are invited to apply for consideration for appointment. Applications are available at the municipal building or online at cityofwarrenpa.gov/volapp.
All applications received “will be equally considered,” according to the release. The deadline for applications is Jan. 16.
Also, City Manager Nancy Freenock explained on Tuesday some personnel changes.
Mary Ann Nau will be shifted out of the position of assistant city manager and tasked with several responsibilities, including building code official, parks and recreation director and ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliance officer. Cindy Strandburg will have an expanded role in building codes and grant work.
“We’re trying to cross-train a little,” Freenock said, with the goal of doing “more with the staff we have.”
