Greene running for District Attorney

Warren attorney Robert C. Greene has announced that he will be a candidate for Warren County District Attorney in the upcoming May primary election seeking the Republican nomination.

Greene, 42, is a native of Warren County. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh where he was a member of the Honors College, and Oklahoma City University Law School where he was class president. For the past 12 years, Greene has practiced Criminal Law primarily in Warren County and also in the surrounding counties of Allegheny, Erie, McKean, Forest, Clarion, Crawford and Clearfield.

“I have been a criminal defense attorney for 12 years,” Greene said. “I love the law and have often thought about and expressed my desire to run for the District Attorney of Warren County. I remember a time in Warren County when we did not lock our doors at night and felt safe; now we are witnessing drug problems growing out of control, burglaries rising, and sexual predators increasingly on the prowl. This trend is not acceptable. It’s time for change.”

“In my 12 years of practice I have seen areas worthy of improvement, programs needing support, and unnecessary injustices done to crime victims, law enforcement, witnesses, and criminal defendants,” he said. “It is the District Attorney’s duty to thoroughly investigate and evaluate each potential prosecution early in the criminal process, to ensure the protection of liberties, and prosecute, to the fullest extent of the law, those who are making our community unsafe.”

Greene is a member of the Warren County Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, and U.S. District Court of Western Pennsylvania. While attending the University of Pittsburgh, Greene put his education on hold and volunteered to serve in the U.S. Army during the Iraq War. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1992-2000. Greene has been on the Board of Family Services of Warren County, a Criminal Law Instructor for Jamestown Community College, and has participated as a Judge for Youth Court in Warren County. Greene is active in coaching youth sports for his children. He currently coaches or has formerly coached Little League Baseball, Warren County YMCA Basketball, Warren Wrestling and Beaty Flag Football. He and his family are members of the First United Methodist Church. He and his wife, Christine, reside in the city of Warren, and are parents to Joe age 11, Justice age 9 and Tyler, who passed away in 2011 at the age of 21.
