GIRLS HOOPS: Lady Lions grab first win of year, vs. Tidioute

Warren County Christian School got its first win of the season, defeating Tidioute Charter, 27-17, on Monday night.

Allyssa Kerr led the way for the Lady Lions (1-3) with nine points, while Jessica Lauffenburger added seven. Kyra Keeler, Dymphee Zortman, Desirae Kerr and Sarah Parmeter also got on the scoreboard for WCCS.

“I’m happy for the girls for getting their first win,” said WCCS coach Tom Jones. “We got into foul trouble early and we had some players who haven’t had an opportunity to play step up for us.”

The Bulldogs (0-5) were led by Tanya Krouse and Casey Byers, who scored six points each.

Free throws plagued Tidioute all night, as the Bulldogs shot just 3-17 from the line. Still, TCCS head coach Ted Nuttall found positives to take out of the defeat.

“This was the best game we’ve played since the opener,” Nuttall said. “We did a lot of things better tonight.”

Both teams will face Erie Bethel in their next matchup, with WCCS hosting them Tuesday night and TCCS travelling to Erie on Thursday.
