Grace King of Warren graduated magna cum laude with a 3.6 grade average, receiving a bachelor of science degree in education, secondary education-English, from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania on Dec. 15. At Edinboro, King was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority, Order of Omega Greek Leadership Honor Society, Sigma Tau Delta English International Honor Society and served as president of Rho Lambda National Sorority Leadership Society.
King recently accepted a position as a middle school language arts teacher in Georgetown, S.C. She is the daughter of Gail and Paula King of Warren.
A group of 15 students from the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford presented papers last month at the 13th annual Penn-York Undergraduate Research Conference held at Hilbert College. Local students who made presentations were: Hollie Rapp, a sociology major from Warren, presented “To Talk or Not to Talk, That is the Question: A College Student’s Dilemma.” Samantha Garris, a sociology major from Youngsville, presented “Effects of Divorce on Children.”
Edward Turfitt of Warren, a fourth-year student in the Kate Gleason College of Engineering at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), was named to the dean’s list for the fall quarter.
Ashley McLaughlin has been named to the fall 2012 dean’s list at Robert Morris University, Moon Township, Pa. Ashley is a 2011 graduate of Youngsville High School and will be continuing in her sophomore year this spring majoring in media arts with a concentration in photography and a minor in business. She is the daughter of George and Karen McLaughlin of Youngsville.
