WRESTLING: Fehlman, Streich advance to Tool City semifinals
MEADVILLE – Warren wrestlers D.J. Fehlman and Alex Streich both advanced to the semifinals of Meadville’s annual 17-team Tool City Tournament on Friday and several other Dragons remain alive in Saturday morning’s wrestlebacks.
The sophomore Fehlman, wrestling at 126 pounds, started the tournament strong with an easy technical fall victory before advancing to the semifinals with a 5-0 decision win over Conneaut’s Kyle Lukowich – the No. 2-ranked 132-pounder in D-10 Class AA. Streich, also a sophomore, continued his early season success with a pair of wins at 220, including an injury default victory and a 4-1 decision win.
Both wrestlers remain in the hunt for Tool City championship and will be looking to punch a ticket to the finals in Saturday morning’s semifinals.
Despite suffering losses on Friday, Seth Johnson (120 pounds), Jason Peterson (132), Jonah Hordusky (138), Garrett Smead (152), Cody Gunn (160), Chris McNeal (182) and Dan Henry (195) remain alive in the consolation bracket.
