Tree Pick Up

in the Boro

Christmas tree pickup will begin on Friday, Jan. 4. Trees will be picked up on Fridays. Place your tree out by the curb. Jan. 18 will be the last Christmas tree pick day.

Scholarship Fund

The Youngsville High School Alumni Scholarship Fund received donations in 2012 from Luke Benedict, the YHS Class of 2012, the YHS Class of 1960, and Doris Lake.

Donations were received in memory of Jeanette Dailey, Charles Crockett, James Cowan III, Isabel Ward, Barton Abplanalp, Mary Lou Walter, Harold Peterson, Barbara Jackson Bates, Robert Bates, Gertrude Perkins Bidwell, Gail Coan Hillman, Regina Nelson Whitehall, Albert Scheck, Arden Taylor, and June Abraham Humes.

The Youngsville High School Alumni Scholarship Fund awards scholarships each June to several graduating seniors from Youngsville High School. In June 2012, ten $1,000 scholarships were awarded. Tax-deductible donations may be mailed to YHS Alumni Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 73, Youngsville, Pa. 16371.

Wrestling Tournament

The Youngsville Wrestling Boosters will be hosting their 11th Annual Christopher “Critter” Grady Youngsville Wrestling Novice Tournament on Saturday, Jan. 12. You must be up to 12 years old the day of the tournament. Novice wrestlers only.

Pre-registration fee is $17 if mailed byThursday, Jan. 3. Walk-in fee is $20 per wrestler. No refunds will be given. For more information and registration forms, call 563-1606 or 706 2371.

Bicentennial News

The Youngsville Bicentennial committee thanks the businesses and the individuals who donated the items for the four gift baskets and two gift bags. The drawing was held on Dec. 22 and the winners were Abbey Wolfe, James Farr, Diane Shannon, Tara Turner, Jean Neal and Doris Lake. Dan McLaughlin was the winner of the summer glider donated by Tops Markets.

The committee’s next fundraiser will be a Valentine gift basket, the drawing will be Feb. 14. All of the fundraisers benefit the bicentennial on June 28-30, 2013.

With 2013 here and June fast approaching, the committee is still looking for volunteers to help with the celebration. The next meeting will be held at the Youngsville Dairy Queen on Saturday, Jan. 5 at 8:30 a.m. Everyone is invited to attend this meeting.
