What elected officials will make in 2013
By JACOB PERRYMAN
With budget season wrapping up, the question of where tax money is spent comes to the fore.
One question that arises as a result is, what do our officials make?
At the national level:
President Obama’s base salary is listed at $400,000 and Vice-President Joe Biden’s is listed at $230,700, standard rates that went into effect in 2001.
United States Senators Robert Casey and Pat Toomey each receive a base salary of $174,000, a rate set in 2009. United States Representatives, such as Mike Kelly and Glenn Thompson, also receive $174,000, the standard for United States Congressmen not holding leadership positions.
At the state level:
Governor Tom Corbett will receive a base salary of $174,914, the salary rate when he was elected into office in 2010. Corbett is eligible for a salary of $187,256 due to automatic salary increases set by Pennsylvania law.
State Sen. Joe Scarnati will receive a base salary of $138,820. This is higher than a rank and file senator as Scarnati holds the post of President Pro Tempore.
State Rep. Kathy Rapp will receive a base salary of $82,026, more than the $79,613 standard for rank-and-file Pennsylvania General Assembly members, as state legislators pay is affected by the length of time they have served.
State Representative Bob Robbins, who will represent a sliver of the western portion of the county following 2012 re-districting, will receive a base salary of $93,532.
Compensation for judges is also set at the state level. A district judge will receive a base salary of $86,639 and a common pleas judge will receive a base salary of $173,271.
At the county level, in Warren County:
County Commissioners John Bortz, Stephen Vanco and John Eggleston will receive base salaries of $54,957.
County Treasurer Dennis Munksgard will receive a base salary of $49,171.
County Sheriff Ken Klakamp will receive a base salary of $49,170.
County Prothonotary Susan Kosinski will receive a base salary of $48,558.
County Register and Recorder Lori Bimber will receive a base salary of $47,536.
County Coroner Jerry Borden will receive a base salary of $18,018.
County District Attorney Ross McKeirnan received a base salary of $156,000 in 2008, the last year for which figures were able to be obtained. The majority of district attorney’s salaries in Pennsylvania are funded by the state.
County auditors are paid on a per-diem basis at a rate of $130.10.

County judge of elections salary is set at $154 per-day.
